In outpatient clinics, hospital doctors or private doctors (who come to the hospital for scheduled sessions each week) provide specialist medical and surgical services depending on the size of the hospital and community.

Education
Schooling is compulsory for children aged 6 to 16.
The levels of schooling are:
- primary school (prep–Year 7)*
- secondary (high) school (Years 8–12)*
- tertiary education (university and TAFE)
*The school year usually runs from January to December (4 semesters) with the longest holiday period at the end of Semester 4 (around Christmas and New Year).
